DJ Scoob:)

Hi guys,
i'm going to use my scoobies stereo to pump out some tunes @ a pool party, just a question, i've got 1 of those small 240volt car battery chargers i'm thinking of using whilst the stereo is on (2/3hrs) to keep the scoobs battery from going dead. Is this a good idea? & is it ok to have the battery charging whilst it is still hooked up to the car?
Cheers

I wouldn't do that. There's a good chance your'll get a humming sound from the speakers.
If you have a fairly big system, it draw current from the best source. While the engine is running it will draw current from the alternator as that puts out about 14.4volts. When the engine is NOT running the stereo will draw from the battery so after a while the battery will go flat(depending on how much current the system draws/how powerfull the system is) even though it is getting a trickle charge. Then it will try to draw from the charger and who knows what might happen.
It could get nasty.
I would fill the tank up and run the engine for 5 mins every 5-10 mins or get yourself a heavy duty 12volt power supply capable of chucking out more amps than your system draws.

Possibly a really dumb question...
To where would you connect a 12V power supply? I'm going to have a similar application shortly (i.e. car stereo on all day at an exhibition) and don't want a flat battery.
Cheers
Lee.
