I want to replace the front speakers with some decent ones that fit straight in - minimum messing about - but need a better sound.

What make and model should I buy?

For straight drop-in (with absolutely no hassles), you're a bit limited. All 6" drop straight in, and a few 6.5" do. But the easy-and-good 6.5" (Infinities) I don't think they make any more.
If it's just a replacement, I'd go for JL Audio TR600-CX - coaxials that definately fit & shouldn't need any extra amplification. But that's only my thoughts!
