I have been in contact with this company that supplies self adhesive sound deadening material for all applications including cars.

They supply in packs of 24 pads that are 530mm x 190mm x 1.5mm (1sq ft)each & will supply at £81.00 for three packs (includes airfreight charges). That's £27.00 for 24 sq ft of sound deadening!!!!!!!! Although i'm hoping to get it cheaper if there's enough interest

If you are interested please let me know & i'll put in an order.

You can check the stuff out for yourself at:
http://www.roadkill.co.za/product.htm

Thanks

Thanks for the interest guys. Including my pack that's an interest in 5 packs & i'm assuming that the more we buy, the cheaper the price due to the covering of the air frieght charge across more packs. What i'll do is leave this up here until Friday 29 March to give other people time & then i'll arrange how to pay. I will obviously have to add just a little more to cover postage to you once they arrive but that's still dirt cheap That is unless any of you live near enough to collect?

If you imagine that 9 sq ft is 1 sq yd then you get a general idea. It's enough for the boot & doors.

NoiseKiller UK offer a barrier mat that is the best on the market ref www.efmax.co.uk. It is 3mm thick rather than 1.5mm and is foil faced so it can also be used in the engine bay. It requires NO heat to mould it to shape so is applied easily. They also do a liquid sound proofing NoiseKiller that costs £17.50 per litre which gives 2 sq metres coverage and it is waterbased. visit www.noisekilkler.com for the technical info or ring 0161 643 8070

Steve, efmax.co.uk isn't really a reference for the "best on the market" as I couldn't find much reference to Noisekiller? One reference for barrier mat was on http://www.efmax.co.uk/serv01.htm and said "Barrier Mat is so heavy that I had to use heavy duty contact adhesive to stop it falling off the boot lid." But he did use 60 pads !!!

Perhaps you'd like to offer the group buy a good price on your kit?

BTW, don't forget to add VAT onto this order, plus any import duties that may be due. Reckon on 4% import duty and 17.5% VAT.

Yes Nick I can offer any one a good deal on Barrier Mat.The price for pads 12" x 13" would be £1.70 each including VAT. Barrier mat is 3mm thick rather than 1.5 of the roadkill pads and also has a foil facing on one side that allows you to use the pads in the engine bay also. They are best cut into smaller sections if you use them on the boot lid as they are very dense and heavy. They need to be to perform the tasks. We use BARRIER mat on the wheel arches under the spare wheel and on the inner rear wings when producing our Sound BARRIER kits which sound proof the whole car not just the boot.
The reasons that Erskine does not mention NoiseKiller is beccuase he bought the Barrier Mats when we were known as B.J.Acoustics. We changed the name to NoiseKiller in November 2001.
I have spoken to Erskine recently and he swears by BARRIER mat, and has reccomended it to several of his customers.

Anyone that wants to buy BARRIER mat can do so by ringing 0161 643 8070.
Minimum No of pads to order is only 12.

Chiark - Thanks for the defence m8 & i'll do all the research on costs before anyone has to buy. If I can get a good deal of interest then I may be able to barter the price a little.

Steve - Thanks for Hijacking my post. I am trying to do some people a favour by importing some decent sound deadening at a cheap price & you try & poach them Anyway by my calculation, even if VAT & import charges apply (still to be investigated) it is still a better deal than what you are offering (ie more for your money). My guess is that it doesn't weigh the same as a breeze block for each one either!!!!!!!

If you took the time to read the previous messages I WAS ASKED BY CHIARK to offer the products to the group

You also jumped onto a previous thread with your offer

Your comment regading a breeze block do not make any sense either !!!!

The point you make about value for money is somewhat strange Barrier mat is twice the weight and in sound terms will do twice the job so you would need two of the Roadkill mats to the the job of one Barrier mat which makes the price not as attractive by my calculator.

I am not trying to poach anyone but as a responsible company I will always offer advice to any potential clients. How they act upon that advice is up to them

As they say "You pay your money and you make your choice."

Erskine who is a ICE specialist feels that the Barrier mat is excellent so I will trust his judgement

Steve,

I'm not really after making enemy's on Scoobynet as any Scooby fan is a friend of mine so appologies for my earlier comments (must be that time of the month).

REVISED PRICE FOR BULK BUY OVER 13 PACKS:

Okay here's the deal, i've spoken to the company again & if we can get a bulk order of 13 packs or more the prce is greatly reduced to £14.40 per pack & with shipping (VAT included) they would total at £18.24 per pack. Each pack weighs 8kg & according to the Royal Mail website this would cost £26.00 to send I did a quick calculation on the UPS website & it was approximately £17.00 to Nottingham (the furthest postcode I had from Horsham) but i'm sure that I can find it cheaper or get a bulk delivery discount. Either that or you collect it on the way to a Sussex meet

Me - 1 pack
Ga22er - 1 pack
nib - 1 pack
Jerome - 2 packs
Andy - 1 pack
Dyney - 1 pack

That's 7 packs. Only another 6 to go & i'll do some serious price investigating with regards to postage, collection, delivery etc...

This probably seems like a stupid question, would this stuff quieten down the road noise that eminates through the boot in my 5dr? If so, count me in as I've been toying with experimenting with sound deadening for a while now. It can be really noisy in the car, especially at motorways speeds on roughly surfaced roads

Okay here's the deal.

I'm going to mail everybody that has shown an interest. That is:

Ga22ar - 1 pack
Nib - 1 pack
Me - 2 packs (obviously not gonna mail myself )
Jerome - 2 packs
Andy - 1 pack
Dyney - 1 pack
Ralph Lauren - 1 pack
Velryba - 1 pack
toby 69 - 1 pack
motomc1 - 1 pack
miles - ?
Scooby Si - ?

That's 12 confirmed packs so 1 more & we get the cheaper price. If you could mail me back if you could collect. What I would do is take it with me to a Sussex meet or something (First Sunday of the month). If you would need postage then i'll see if I can get it sent direct from them or if I can find a cheaper source, which i'm working on now.
