Default Kenwood 7200 Help

I have a Kenwood 7200 that I am trying to fit into My 02 Bug, powers up fine but the backlight doesn't work. I can barley make anything out on the screen, I managed to change the brightness/contrast etc but still no "glow"

Have I got a wire on the loom wrong, do I need to earth something!?!

I am going nuts and don't want to pay someone £40 to fit a stereo.

Is this the unit that flips open/shut when you turn ignition on/off? If it is, you'll probably find that a wire has gone between screen and body of unit - same happened on mine, nothing visible on screen at all tho' unit was still working fine. Cost me about £70 to get sorted.

the ribbon`s are cheaply available on ebay, i think the one i replaced was £7, and do the job yourself.

Takes a little time and patients.

but the ribbin just inclips from both ends.

Hope this is on some help.

I presume you have checked all the screen settings..? There are numerous options, including one as previously mentioned that dims the display at night. Worth a double check before you start replacing stuff.

Good luck.

Yeah I chaecked all the settings, moved the contrast and brightness up to max and changed the black depth.

SCooby Me - How much of a ball ache is it to do the job and where can I find the instructions and ribbons to replace?

Thanks guys, not too fused on paying someone a bomb to plug a lead in for me
