A couple of days of ICE work.....
Well it is for me I'm sure most of you would do it within a few hours
First job is the rear I've picked up a pair of Kenwood 6x9 subs plus a small amp.... took me all afternoon to strip the old ones out and cut some spacers to fit, what a tight space to work in and having the metal shelf does make things take a little longer to do.
Firstly this is the spacer in place ready to take the speaker....
Then I bolted the speakers in place with some nylock nuts on so they do not work loose... also dropped some sound deadening on the metal part of the parcel shelf to hopefully dull any vibrations.
The amp is quite small so it will fit neatly under the shelf area as well...
Then onto the wiring..... I decided to remove the centre consol and do it properly feeding the cables all out of sight...
I need to get some small cable ties and get everything neat and pinned back.....
For today finally I have drilled a hole in the bottom of the holder in the centre console now I can mount the amp control panel in it...
I still need to buy some connectors in order to wire the speakers up but at least now everything is just about in place ready to do that last step for the rears.
Next will be the In-Phase components for the front doors.... when I figure out how to remove the door cards I was advised that they are not to deep so hopefully they will not conflict with the windows.
Oh and at the very second I touched the battery terminal with my spanner to remove the old power cable I had a text message and nearly fell over talk about a fright !!

What a job the front doors
I've ended up with 26mm worth of spacers to get the main fronts to sit in without touching the window plus since taking the pics below I've had to remove them and cut the spacers closer to the size of speaker so the door card does not foul, I would have never imagined you could get away with a spacer 26mm in size to sit behind the card
At the moment I'm still waiting on some Dynamat type material to arrive for the entire door so I'm going to part fit both main speakers then when the stuff arrives I will be able to fit the cross over box plus tweeters.
Thanks for the extra hands Daz
What a challange to get them to fit let me tell you !
I wish I could say I was enjoying this job... the jury is still out, I will be pleased to hear the results then I think I will be pleased I made the efforts to get this mod done.

try and get hold of some cascade audio deflexpads used lots in the usa and in most competition cars, helps the sound wave off the rear of the speaker makes the wave disipate better. well worth every penny

One question that I need to ask because I can't seem to find an answer on is waterproofing the back of the speaker ? does it need doing and if so how is the best way.... there is not much space between rear and window so there is not much room to work in, if it needs doing can I use a square of dynamat as a deflector in some way above it ?
The car is not normally left out in the weather, the main bulk of water it see's is when it is being washed.
