Default Help needed fitting Alpine headunit

Hi,

I want to fit myAlpine headunit but to do this I either have to connect to the battery or the fusebox. (I have fitted this is various others cars and never had a problem) I attempted it today but could not find anyway throught to the battery and am unsure how to connect to the fusebox. If you have fitted one - how have you managed??

Cheers
Jenks

Hi Shaggy6,
It has a grey box with a yellow wire coming out of it which says high current draw - do not connect behind dash, connect only to battery or fusebox
Cheers

run straight through bulk head make sure you have a fuse near the battery and run the cable through a gromet. this unit can draw 15 amps if it is the one i think. do not connect to iso i have seen this done and the perm feed had the wrong fuse in it and well the fuse should have protected the cable .........fire in dash new wiring loom lucky he did not loose the car!

Cheers, yeah this is what ive normally done (vectra B, s reg Mondeo and m reg scooby) but I tried on sunday and could not find anywhere where I could see the wires when I pushed them through Due to the sound proofing and covers etc. Took the glove box out and the cover underneath the steering wheel but still nothingBy the way mines a T reg uk model

i had to drill a hole in my scoob but i am running 0awg powercable there is a gromet on the passenger side remove the glove box. if you put a metal coat hanger through the gromet from the engine side you will find it easier. good luck fishing!

Thanks, will try again on the weekend!! I was a bit apprehensive pushing anything through because you only need to nic a wire and you have yourself a problem. Same with drilling - your not quite sure where the bit is going to come through

just be careful choose the larger bit on the gromet and take your time.

My alpine said to run to the battery not the iso, its due to the highish power internal amp they have. They draw a lot of current!

alpine ipods work the best of all manufacturers i fitted a zenec to a freinds car earlier on this year better spec but not as user friendly as the alpine. gutted really spending over a grand on a head unit at trade really got my goat user bility not good sound quality excellent.
