Question

I've got a Sony C570r head unit with MD changer. Is it possible to add an Mstation to the system?

There is no Aux button on the head unit but I was looking at wiring it through the RCA for the MD changer.

Any help/advice...

AFAIK, the only way to add it into the system with an AUX input on the HU, is via an FM channel. You can then tune your HU into the Mstation.

Again, AFAIK it won't just act like your MD changer when you use the RCA conections.

If the CD changer input on the back of the unit is a DIN socket then you will have to check with Sony to see if they have a DIN to RCA converter.

If they don't do one of these then you will have to use the FM Modulator that came with the MStation.

Hope that helps

B4 BOY. Buy yourself a Sony XA-107, This will plug into your h/u allowing connection of your MD changer and any other auxiliary source via phono leads.
I reckon this will be right up your street.

...I think that the XA107's been replaced by the XA-300 (4 aux ins) but if you can source either unit, the install's spot on.

Alternatively, if you can live without your MD changer, unhook the phonos from the changer (leaving the Unilink cable connected and a MD in the unit) and plug the phonos into the mStation. To listen to the mStation, select a MD in the changer which will spin up and get the head unit listening to the changer's audio signal which the mStation's hijacked.

Cheers

Lee.

Thanks for your help...

I think I'm just going to replace the head unit. Seems easier!!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! With what? It's only a few blaupunkt & jvc that have built-in aux-in. If you take the kenwood/alpine route, you'll still need an adaptor cable - that's just the same route as you'd take with your Sony. You'll be spending for no benefit w.r.t. the mstation install.

XA107 should be found for £70-£100. XA300 should be found for £100-£150.

either
buy one of these, take the Unilink (like a DIN) cable from your MD changer, plug it into the XA, plug the Unilink supplied with the XA from the XA back into your MD changer, plug the mstation phonos into the XA. Job done. Easy.

or
unplug the phonos from your MD changer, plug them into your mstation. Job done.
