could some one please give me any help with this problem my stereo has power and lights up it reads the cd (as in it works like normal) but there is no sound coming out of it have checked all the obvious stuff like the mute button and the conector block that goes into it but cant work out why it has just stopped making any sounds it is the standard stereo in a 2001 bugeye thanks

If all your stereo is lighting up reading and playing, then i have to agree that it most prob will be wiring, it sounds like your amplifier in headunit can see a short so is in protect mode so has switched off. Oh if you solve this but then find there is no radio sound but the cd works then its the power wire for the ariel ( rear demister ) If this happens ill find out which wire it is for you, had me scrathing my head for ages befor i twigged
