Question

O.k. I admit I know nothing as far as ICE is concerned, so I'm trying to understand (+ I'd like to get an amp fitted soon)

Can someone (chiark probably) explain the following or point me in the direction of a Glossary?

Cross-overs?
Bridging
Channels (I think I know this one ) and there configuration

Thanx.

Also, why is it a no-no to power your rear speakers from an amp?

David,

There is someone not too far from you who knows a bit about car stereos, and he's ruined his hearing due to car stereos from the tender age of 17!

Andy (pardon??)

Crossover - Frequency you want a set of speakers to crossover, so say a subwoofer working up to 100hz, and the mid-range speaker from 100hz and higher. It's rarely hard set to that frequency, as there is a 'crossover'.

Bridging - Taking to channels from an amp to make it a single channel. So say a 4 channel amp, with 2 channels running your front speakers, you can 'bridge' the two remaining channels to power say a subwoofer.
