sound deadening....

Am looking to layer up my doors with some sound deadening mat stuff (ala Dynamat etc...)

Now I've heard that Dynamat Extreme is the stuff to go for but are there any other REAL alternatives.....? Anyone have an opinion or know of forums that live and breath this stuff.....

Talk Audio has reams of stuff on deadening, there is a specific forum. Dynamat Xtreme is very good, use it myself but damplifier pro is also supposed to be good. The cheaper ones generally require extra layers, so end up costing more to do it right.

I read the Sound Deadener Showdown as mentioned above too - very useful.

I have just done my front doors and rear deck with Second Skin Damplifier and was very impressed with it. Also works out cheaper than Dynamat - I got 12 sq ft for £45 + £10 p&p.

Would recommend doing the trim panel on the back too.
