Interference Problem - any ideas
ICE install on MY06 Hawkeye STI:
Kenwood 727 cd/dvd, powered from the ISO connector
2 Infinity Reference speakers in front
2 Infinity Kappa 42.7i rear
Infinity 475a power amp mounted on board in rear with the
The system was ok running for the first few weeks, but the last 6 weeks it has developed the following symptoms on occaisions:
when head unit turned off I can hear engine noise, heater wining appearing to come through speakers
a buzzing created that can amplify to the point I have to power off the system even at low volumes
I think by deduction this may be power related, i.e. draining the battery as I do only 100 miles a week on average. The power amp has an 8 gauge feed from the battery but runs at 50% max gain setting and 1/2 the max head unit volume.
Do I need a new high power battery to cure the problem or is it something else?
Any ideas Scoobynetters?

Does the amp come on when you swith the headunit on, or is it powered up when the iginition turns on?
Either way, if it happens with the headunit turned off that rules that out. That would leave the RCA cables or the amp. Try changing one or the other to see what the cause is - quite often it is the cables.
It's also worth making sure you have a good earth connection for the amp - where have you earthed it?
I think it's unlikely to be a battery problem.
Also worth having a search or posting over here:

More info
Amp turns on when the HU is switched on by the remote lead.
The earth for the amp is 8 gauge cable 0.5m long earthed under back seat to bare metal and a good secure connection.
The RCA cables are 1m long, high quality from the DVD control unit on the mounting board, run round the back of the mounting board but away from the power or earth cables on the power amp. I will check they are still secure.
I could try using my sons power amp instead of the Infinity in case its an amp problem or to rule that out.
Thanks for your advice.
