max speaker depth using an 18mm MDF spacer is 77mm and putting the door card back on was very tight

scooby-tc , I would + your response if I could m8

How much were you looking to spend on drivers Laura, and will they be amped (HU amplification doesn't count )?

edit-I see you opened a thread for this, no need to duplicate work here, cheers

Like this you mean

Here is what i did in my 05 Spec C and believe me the weight increase is minimal

Here is a quick guide to what i did in my Blobeye. Now you obviously wont install the exact same setup as me but mine does have sensational sound quality and balance with massive midrange and bass

Firstly i removed the standard things they call speakers

Then i fully dynamatted the doors and made up 18mm thick MDF spacers

then i fitted a set of Focal 165K2P component speakers

Then came the build for the subwoofers which comprised of a fibreglass enclosure built into a false floor behind the passenger front seat, dynamatted floor. The subs are JL8w3 and everything is powered by a JL 300/4 amplifier

covered

and the system was finished off with a Kenwood DDX7029 headunit

might be of interest, might not but i thought id share my experiences

I think you have quite a few options, if you look at the mounting depth of a 6020cs, which fits easily in your car with 12mm mdf, then anything this mounting depth or less will be fine.

BTW, seen you over on talkaudio - the advice you get over there will be spot on, if I was you I would choose something other than the Infinity's.

put a small layer of foam over the mechanisms then dynamat over the top that way nothing at all gets stuck

Just a thin layer of any type of foam it doesnt really matter as all its doing is preventing the mechanisms from getting stuck to the dynamat.Failing that you can lay the dynamat over the top and cut round the mechanisms but that is a bit time consuming
