I have a MY99 with std ICE and always had this faint buzz coming out of the speakers which goes with the engine revs when the cassette is on. Moaned to the dealer who couldn't do anything with it. I have now rigged up a portable MP3 player (found a good use for the drinks holder at last!!) This requires higher volume on the head unit, consequently the buzzing is louder. Again the dealer can't find a problem. Has anyone had a similar problem with the std gear and have you had this fixed?

Not sure if this would be the fix needed but am sure that this noise is usually created by the alternator (or another circuit that changes volts value dependent on engine revs or even windscreen wipers) and can be got rid of by using a suppressor fixed to the offending component.
