Is there a way to mute a stereo when a Nokia car kit is in use?
The thing is that the stereo I'm now using doesn't have a phone mute unlike my last one.
There are just the standard ISO connectors on the back.
Thanks in advance
Andy

It's possible to mute the sound when the phone rings, in a couple of ways:-
1) Fit a relay into the 12V switched (accessory) supply, so that the relay normally supplies the 12V. When the phone-mute line goes to 12V, get it to switch the relay so the power is cut. This will switch off the stereo. Not ideal, but it's easy and it will work
2) Get 5 relays. Connect one into each of the speaker +'ves, so that they normally supply the speaker signal. Wire the +'ve input of the relays to the 5th relay output, and switch that one from the phone mute supply. This will cut the signals to the speakers. Not so easy, but it's a better solution than (1) and it does work.
Hope these help?
