Default Which models of Infinity fit a Bugeye?

Hi People,

The lady is asking what I'd like for Christmas and I thought perfect... A new front pair of Infinity speakers for the car.

Could you let me know the model no's that will fit my 2001 WRX (I know there's a need for the MDF spacers)?

Looking for models which include the tweeters and crossovers ideally!
Thanks,

Charlie

These will fit with 12mm MDF

Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Infinity Kappa 65.7cs - Infinity INF-KAPPA65.7CS

Anything with a mounting depth less than ~60mm should be OK. The DLS and Rainbow speakers are also very good.

I've just got some Infinity 6020cs from ebay - will let you know how I get on.

Infinity Reference 6020cs 6-1/2" component speaker system - Alpha Car Audio

Also got the Subaru adapters which don't quite fit the speakers, so it's hacksaw time!

Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Infinity Kappa 52.7i - Infinity INF-KAPPA52.7I

Infinity Kappa 32.5i - Alpha Car Audio

Infinity Kappa 52.5i 13cm 165watts - Alpha Car Audio

Thanks for all the replies!

Think I'll be going for the
Infinity Reference 6020cs. They seem quite reasonable priced and should be fine for my needs.

Escott, Any closer to getting yours fitted? Any problems?

Presume I should be going for the 16cm size?

Cheers,

Charlie

Yes, got them fitted OK but it did take a while.

The spacers I bought were no good (don't bother with them) so I ended up using 12mm mdf, there are loads of threads in the FAQ on how to do this. Briefly though I used the old speakers as a template for the outer edge and screw holes, then the metal ring supplied with the new speakers as the guide for the inner edge.

Once you have removed the old speakers and tweeters, cut the cable which ran into the original mid/bass units. The wire connected to the vertical spade connector in the T shaped block is positive. Connect this to your new run of cable and then I ran it through the hole in the door which already has a bit cut out of the plastic, into the crossover, which I velcro/taped to the inside of the plastic door skin, using a crimp connector.

I then ran a length of speaker cable from the crossover onto the mid/bass Infinity speaker going back through the same hole in the door.

Once the old tweeter was removed (unscrew from the back of the metal bracket and peel off), I used the -3 connector on the crossover and ran cables joined using the spade connectors on the Infinity tweeter - I think the one with the black stripe is positive. I glued the new tweeter on to the bracket without any of the supplied plastic casings.

Now going to Dynamat the doors!

Hope this helps.

Is there a range of speakers that fit the front of a bug eye without the need for adaptors? Ideally component speakers really. I was quoted for a set of 'hertz' shallow speakers, but is there any more?
