It sounds terrible, but mine sit "on a bed of duck tape" - sounds like a silly restaurant. Sits on the back of the plastic grille. Wrap it round the back one way, then the other at 90 degrees, trim excess edges. I did this to bring them nearer to the grilles after the previous post - prev they were blutak'd to the metal of the door, but the fronts of the tweeters were a good 2" from the door grille. Needless to say, they haven't come off yet and sound better than previously.

Use blutak and the magnet

Hot glue is great, but as you've obviously found out when it gets hot, it can melt... I hoped that it would be a bit safer in the tweeter grilles.

Duck tape would certainly do the job; you must have some yourself, but if not then you know where I am.

cheers for the answers.

John I'm having trouble visualizing what you've done. I have a nice thick roll of duct tape ready to go if you could explain a bit more!

cheers,

greg

I fitted them by making a bracket like the one used with subaru tweeter kit and using one of the mounting pods supplied with the infinity components. (Fortunately,I had my mates to copy off)glueing is a waste of time.

Wink

What I mean with the duck tape is to put the tweeter in the position you want it on the back of the grille. Then take one piece of duck tape from the grille edge run up the side of the tweeter onto its back down the other side and onto the other edge of the grille. Do the same at 90 degrees and you've made a cradle of duck tape out of two U shapes with wings. I'm really trying hard to explain it..... without sounding like a BodyForm advert.... cue waaaaaaagh! Bodyform! Bodyform for you, hu!

Greg I got the kenwood 6090 a couple of months ago. (any of the mail order co.s will match the price so buy from who you know) I'm really impressed with it only problem with it is gets a bit confused if you try to change folders if non exsist. ie all songs at the root.I end up ejecting cd & re-inserting. also use good cdrs or they can jump. (TDK are best if a bit pricey I pay 50p a disk inc jewel case)I got a 10 disk cd changer for £100 @ same time & it fits under passenger seat.
ps I'm taking pics of infinity tweeters @ lunch so i'll email them after.

Can a disc changer with the 6090 also read MP3s?

Sorry, still not clear... the headunit has the decoder since it is stand alone, but that is only useful if there is a digital link from the changer to the headunit - some are analogue audio hence my question. Are you saying there is a special changer for MP3 and your 717 doesn't do it?

MP3 discs do not work in any kenwood changer no matter what head unit you use.

Most changers, as you say, have a data bus with analogue signal between head unit and changer... There are some that use a digital link, but they're the exception I think, and normally at quite a premium... Even these would need new firmware in the changer to deal with the disc format...

You'd need a dedicated MP3 supporting changer, come what may
