If I had a £1000 to spend on Ice what wiuld you guys recommend doing.
I have a My07 hawkeye and am fed up with the standard cardboard speakers
love bass. I have some Infinity 605 cs's as yet unfitted. I have had some big installs in the past and am not looking to pose round the city centre or anything just want someting nice to listen to.

Well I had some Diamond Audio d600's in my MY05, but they don't fit in the GB270 Wagon to deep. So I have been looking for a raplacement setup. I have asked the question on here as to what size will, but not had a reply as yet.. I must say the Diamond gear was astounding, best kit I have ever used IMO.

Not cheap I know, about £600 when I got them, but they could take a real pounding and just kept going. I have read lots of good reports on Infinity kit, so I don't think you can go wrong there. The only thing I think you will need is an Amp, to get the best from them, whatever you choose.

Don't want to go too mad but maybe i'll put an amp and a sub in the boot and upgrade all the speakers. Was it your GB270 I saw with the interior stripped out fair play doing that to a new car

Yes but you'd still have to run it through some speakers

I'm on that site mate!!!

On a serious note, look at setting a budget for each item ie speakers, head unit, amps, sound deadening and wiring and try and stick to it.

The more sound deadenig you have the better the quality of sound inside the car and not so much rattling from the outside.
The only give away with mine at (almost) full tilt is the number plate rattling.....until you open a door!!!!!

(i have shares in dynamat now!)

If you want some subs, I have some kicking around (Vibe twin 12" in box)

I went slightly over your budget, but I didn't do the installation. You may be able to sneak it in on budget if you did the work..?

Cut from another thread:

I've gone ahead with mine and here are the model numbers etc of the kit I had installed:

Hertz Hi-energy HSK165 front components.
Focal Access 130 CA1 rear door replacements.
Genesis Profile 4 Ultra amp powereing rear sub and front components.
12" Hertz Hi-energy HX300 sub in a stealthbox.

The whole lot installed, with all four doors Dynamatted and a carpeted board made for the amp, along with very good quality cabling came in around the £1300 mark. All installed professionally and to a very high standard by Audio Concepts (B&B) in Cardiff. Excellent professional service, I would happily recommend them. Their website is Welcome to B&B Autos, vehicle audio, entertainment and customisation specialists and the guy in charge is called Waz. Very pleasant and knowledgeable bloke.

The sound in the car has been transformed. No distortion at any volume, solid bass, crystal clear vocals and mid range from the front. Although not the cheapest by a long shot, I'm very happy with the sound from my set-up now. Oh, and a small plus is that the doors clunk shut solidly like a German luxo-barge now thanks to the dynomat and should hopefully resist the car park dings a little better too...!!

Nige.
