Question Head unit question

Hi everybody, In my car I have a 4 X 50w output head unit with RCA pre outs, the rear speakers are now run from an amp which is fed from the RCA pre outs, the question I have is can the 4 X 50w channels be bridged into 2 X 100w channels (to feed the front speakers) or will it damage the head unit ?
Thanks, Mike.

Ok, thanks for that, I'll just have to stick with a skimpy 50w max in the fronts them. Mike.
