Default In car dvd

Whats the best way to rip a dvd for in car usage.

Ive done a few music videos, they sound fine but the picture is very "liney", more so on fast movemen, slows OK.

At the mo I am ripping at 576x480 PAL 25fps, 192 bitrate. Then importing into InterDVD Maker and burning to disk??

Does anyone who has done this know the best settings to use?

Hi, I use "smartripper" and "dvd2one" and then just burn as a dvd in "nero".
The whole process takes less than 40 mins, perfect results everytime.
Hope this helps.

40mins, thats quick!

Does it have the ability to rip just certain chapters though?
And what settings do you use, size, format etc..

Just tried DVDShrink, doesnt have the ability to rip chapters, they all seem to come up as one title... had this with a few progs I tried other than the one I mentioned previously.

Also still looking for advice on settings/sizes/bitrate etc..

Not sure you get what I mean, the in car dvd plays normal dvds. I have some with music on seprated in to individual chapters for each song. I want to rip the chapters (songs) I want and make up one decent dvd with the songs I want on it for in the car.

I have a program that rips the chapters but using the settings in my OP and burning them the quality is poor. I dont think its the software just the settings Im using. Hence asking what size/bitrate/file format etc.. people use to rip.

When I rip them Im doing them as mpegs, I am now wondering :

They are encoded as mpegs when ripped, then my dvd software encodes them again to make the dvd. Im thinking maybe because they are being encoded twice its causing the poor quality.

Perhaps I should rip them as avi, author the dvd and burn it??

Not really, downloading seems to take forever on my PC and I have about 30 video disks with 30 tracks on. Ive already accomplished this just not happy with the quality. I have the software to rip single chapters, drag and drop to create a dvd I just want better quality. Thats why I keep repeatedly asking for what settings people use.

I do mine through sonicstage - burn all the CD's and tracks on the PC as MP3 and then create a "JUKEBOX DISC"

I got 42 albums on my last disc (700 meg, 80 mins disc)

sorry for late reply Sizer but YES you can do chapters with "smartripper" and "dvd2one", easy to do if you follow instructions ... both can be d/loaded for free, just do a search.
