I'm looking for a head unit which will take a USB flash drive so I can do away with cd's rattling around and getting scratched. Budget about 100quid

Any comments on these models ?

I'm drawn towards the Kenwood as you can plug a USB flash drive or an IPod into the USB port and have full control of the IPod via it's bottom docking connector. The same company bundles the IPod connector cable in for same price on their Ebay shop.

Any thoughts on those, or alternatives or anyone selling one second hand

I got the Sony one and am very pleased with it so far. Not as good as the Alpine that it replaced (pinched) but does away with the need for an autochanger (also pinched) and each of us has a 2GB flash disc which we put in for our own vibes. I don't have an ipod so can't comment but for £120 it is excellent.

 

I've just fitted a kenwood KDC W7534U - £150 from car audio security - different model from yours but has the usb and ipod interface. Greta unity and good sound / features. The usb works really well, and it scrolls title and track etc, however the ipod isn't so great if you only use the RCA connectors. I have a nano 1gb, and the kenwood mixes all the songs up into folders with no sense of order. You can scroll through it OK, but its bascially impossible to find what you are looking for easily. Would recommend getting the full ipod interface unit if wanting that functionality.
