Default Will 17cm Speakers Fit The Front Of My Classic?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but i've searched the forum and come across contradicting information.

Basically, all I want to know is will 17cm components fit the front doors of MY95 Impreza?

Cheers.

I don't see why not but you will have to make mounting brackets for them, the biggest problem you will have is the depth as you only have 59mm to play with. If I was you I would get a set of Infinity 6010CS as they are a direct replacement for the OEM speakers and only a tiny bit of modifying the OEM plastic housing is required.

I tried fitting 16.5cm speakers to mine and the back of the speaker did not fit the surround due to the curvature of the metal housing at the back of the speaker. You would save a hell of a lot of dicking around if you just went for 6010CS from the outset.

Er they will be if you make up mounting brackets for them, if you want a straight swap then you will need either 6010CS or 60.7cs, I thing the 65.7 cs are 16.5" and you need 16".

As for making brackets, go to CHIARK's website from the links in the sticky thread at the top of the ICE section.

You have 3 options....
- Adapt an Autoleads or similar spacer for a Vauxhall Corsa.
- Make them out of wood/MDF.
- Rip the cone out of the original speakers and use the frame/mount that is left.

I put Sony 17cm ones in mine, made the spacers out of MDF with copious amounts of sealing against damp.

Sony provide a template for fitting their speakers, I used that, and the original speaker to design the spacer, cut it out with a jigsaw.

So far, (four years), the only problem has been one wire fell off one speaker terminal. Pushed back on and nipped with long-nosed pliers, no probs.
