hi,

i notice there are already some holes in the metal of the parcel shelf on the MY01. looks like one of them (left side) would take a 6x9 straight off, whereas the other side would need some cutting.

Has anyone done this? looking for comments on how easy it was, what it looks like, how it sounds etc etc.

Hello mate,

I think the general opinion on the board is not to bother.

Just fit something like the Infinity 605's on the front doors and amp 'em right up. Maybe remove the rear speakers (for airflow) and add a sub in the boot.

Rear speakers ruin the soundstage, by pulling it towards the back of the car, IMHO.

Having said that, I've fitted Infinity 552i's into the rear shelf (they slot right in) and faded more towards the front. This gives a nice sound and also keeps passengers happy

i've got the 605's in the front already. just bought some 10cm infinities to replace the ****e in the rear doors but not put them in yet.

Hope to get amps in after xmas, and a sub. i want to high pass filter all of the speakers, maybe 80Hz+, so that things don't rattle so much with the bass. i did this in my last car to good effect.

Mmm......

I thought that too (dont bother) but then i got a demo of some new JL Audio 6x9's (£250) that blew me away. Lots of punchy base and worked well in boot space.

If your thinking of 6x9's get a demo. If you like really low base then a sub would be the first option.......

But do you want a boot full of kit?? If not - test some of the more expensive kit before writing them off as a waste of space!! They are a good compromise.
