I trying to work out what the best kit is for my fist install. Any of you guys out there recommend any well designed websites for ICE - ie sites that give more than just a phone number - and whose prices are competitive.

I'll start with

I'd say an industrial size tub of vaseline would be required for a "fist install"

Sorry,I just had to.

Guys

We should not let a minor (unfortunate) typographical error stand in the way of this useful resource.

Chiark needs these for his links on his FAQ website.

Comments about your experiences with the sites would be useful.

Mick

I presume the good thread are the ice websites rather than fisting.

Can recommend Edworthys, had a few problems with my fist install, gave very good after sales service. Good prices too.

Boost,

I thought I'd do what you suggested, I wanted a Kenwood KDC7080R, RRP £299. Most discount places are advertising at between £210 and £230, Empire Direct have it at £179.89 ! I rang to confirm the prices, YEP £179.89 + £7.50 for 2 courier delivery and they're in stock.

So I thought, I'll ring Hendon Car Stereo and get the extra fiver off, no chance! They said that Empire would never deliver at that price, the advert was just to get people to order from them and that I was wasting my time ordering from Empire. They would do the 7080 at £209.99 + £10.00 delivery.

This all happened last Wednesdey evening between 18:00 and 19:00, I rang Empire back and by Friday I had a brand spanking 7080R!

If I could be bothered, or could convince myself that it would do any good I would ring Hendon and tell the sales manager what I think of their false promise, however, I got what I wanted, when I wanted it and at (IMO) a good price.

AndrewC.

PS.

That would certainly explain why Hendon have not replied to a couple of e-mails I have sent them.

(Message edited by Chiark to avoid any potential issues - statement was factual, but could lead Scoobynet into trouble. Stupid, I know, but necessary. Sorry Boost)

My original idea behind the post was good sites to buy kit from in the UK.

However I did come across the following manufacturers link page courtesy of some US ICE shop. Comes in handy!

Top - Again

Any more 'must-see' sites?

I am quite tempted by an MP3 playing unit now! - save cost and space for multi-cd autochanger !!!

Agreed, Incarexpress and caraudiodirect are both top places to shop with.
