05 STI SPEAKER INSTALL (AT LAST)
1st of all I would like to thank all of you who gave me info. and help with my questions. Cheers!
Was looking for a set up that would suit my style of music, but would be easy enough for myself to fit and return to standard. This is not a major install by any means rather just an upgrade.
Headunit (from previous car) - SONY CDX-F7500
Fronts - INFINITY 6.5 inch COAXIAL
Rears - INFINITY 5.25 inch COAXIAL
DYNAMAT EXTREME Speaker Mounting Kit
IA PERFORMANCE Speaker Adaptors
The Headunit has a good spec. and the sound is now clear and sharp rather than muffled and flat.

Spookily enough, i have the same headunit and front speakers at the moment.
What is the mounting kit you mention and the speaker adaptor you have used. I was going to make one out of MDF but this seems a lot similar.
Do you have the WEB sites etc?
Many thanks,
Steve

That install looks very good
I am after doing something very similar to my 06 WRX
can you give me the details of the speakers used - front & rear - model no's etc and the spacers used - where did u get them from ?
i would rather buy the spacer kit as my DIY skills are not that good!
i assume that as the front speakers are coaxiels that the original tweeters are left intact still working?
my plan is to first change all the speakers and then when funds allow swap the head unit for something better
cheers
Kev

Think you`ll have a job fitting 6.5 speakers in the rear door, but good luck mate!
Tissy Kevj66 sent you both PMs.

SONY CDX-F7500
Its very good !! But there probably is a replacement / alternative model by now. This one has MP3 playback, CD changer inputs, plus you can get an adaptor box for it which allows multiple CD changer inputs and also USB and Line-In inputs. Very useful for a CarPC or iPODs etc.

Colzo:- I have the same car as you, and are also thinking about getting some need speakers, so are the 6.5 inch the size to have up front and 5.25 rears?, are they a direct fit then?
Head Unit looks great too.

6.5 in rear
jbl 6.5 easy to fit in rears !
remove the bolt that holds the window bar in then put the speaker in from behind the door panel, drill 4 holes then screw from front with locking tabs on back of speaker.may need to bend the inner door skin a bit so that the speaker dosnt hit when moving 1 hour both sides

Anything is possible as Ian10 (above) has proved! What I wanted was a an install that I could revert back to standard when selling the car. Thats why I picked 6.5 fronts and 5.25 rears and fitted them using adaptors so I didn`t have to drill holes or cut wires!

Your speaker set up is exactly what I am after. Could you also send me details of the speakers used. I assume the mounting adapters are the six part kit from IAP.
Also can you give me some info on the wiring adapters and where to dynomat ie is it worth using dynomat on the inside of the door skin.
Thanks for the help.

You may find useful info of my site also - Subaru Impreza CarPC under the 'Audio Construction' heading. I used the IAP rings and they are excellent. Didn't bother with Dynamat as it was too much hastle, but the without them the upgrade is still excellent.
Hope you find the site useful.
