Default STI MY06 - headunit removal

How do you remove this pile of crap please?

What have people replaced it with? I'm looking at the DPX701U Kenwood.

What the hell was the point of putting in a cassette player!!!!

I bought the DPX701-U unit for my 05STI.

I also ordered the KCA-BT100 kenwood bluetooth setup, but it hasn't arrived as yet - I'm told in the new few days though.

The headunit is pretty good though, although somewhat complicated to use for the first time - hundreds of settings.
All depend on whether using the CD, radio, USB etc.

Only thing I'd say is the display. I'd prefer if it could have just one static display instead of the video thing, or multiple image display.

I Paid £270 for mine delivered.

The 501-U has a lesser quality display, and fewer inputs from memory.

The USB port is pretty cool by the way, kenwood recommend not plugging directly into this, but I have used a memory stick on mine quite a lot.
I guess there is a risk of damaging the unit if you hit the stick I suppose, and the cable they supply lessens this to a degree.

I suffered badly with mine on delivery time, because kenwood had supply problems.

I have gone for the 501 model, got it for 204.99 from ICECLEAROUT . Speak to Billy if anyone else is interested in this model unit as they list it for £494 on their website

Urban: have you tried plugging your ipod via the ipod USB lead into the USB port?

I'm interested in knowing if its works as it saves me having to wire in the ipod box as i have the bluetooth box to fit somewhere also. I got this (bluetooth adaptor) for good price btw off ebay, £94 brand new - the seller has about 20 for sale.
