Sound proofing? Spoiler is vibrating badly!
Just had my system (alpine head unit, amp, 12" sub and infinity 6x9s) fitted and it sounds lovely inside the car (X-plate classic) but whilst havin a *** after work tonight, and walking around the car with the tunes thumping, the spoiler and boot lid was vibrating really badly, creating loads of unwanted noise
Has anyone else had this problem
as im not sure what to do, maybe a spot of sound proofing is in order but i cant see it
making any difference to the spoiler, any help would be great

If you've got a high spoiler it's going to reverberate a bit no matter what, unless you fill the space between it and the bootlid with wadding
I think you can reduce it somewhat by sorting out the bootlid. Ideally, you'd use dynomat on it, then try to fill the space between the inner and outer bootlid panels. Modern way of doing this is probably using low expansion foam. Messy and you need to know what you're doing though and potentially a PITA if you need to get to the inside of the bootlid ever.

This is a common problem and one which I have had with my bugeye sti with high spoiler.
You need to damper the vibration by using rubber between the underside spoiler base and the boot lid.
The cure for me was to use a bicycle tyre.
Cut the tyre so you have one long tube then slice it open length ways to make a thin sheet of rubber.
Then trim long lengths of 1/2 inch wide rubber and use a hot glue gun to attach to the underside of the spoiler around the outer edges of the spoiler base that is in contact with the boot lid. Don't go right to the edge but leave about 3mm clear so that it isn't seen when the spoiler is re-fitted.
Believe me, this sound like something from Blue Peter but I've done it on my 3 scoobs now and it works.
