Default Dash monitor

I have ordered a JVC head unit (cd/dvd) for my 02 uk sti. I am debating whether to fit a pocket or a dash monitor below it.

If I fit a monitor, how do I power it - ie physically connect it ?
Will I have to take connections from the wiring adapter to the head unit and if so which ones ?

any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil, the monitor receives power, ground and signal from the OBD socket under the steering column, just plug it in and your up and running.
No wires are cut or spliced into.

Thanks for that.

What does the OBD socket look like and what panels do I have to remove to access it ?

Feel underneath the steering column mate. No cover to the port on my 53 plate sti so assuming yours should be the same.

Simple plug in and away you go.

Fitted mine underneath the head unit and tbh looks like it was there from the factory.

When you monitor pops comes out, does it interfer with access to the head unit ?

I was thinking of putting mine above the head unit for this reason, but I don't know if this is possible with the bracket available inside until I take it out.

Also, assuming you have the three audio/video output cables coming from your head unit, do you have any input cables to the headunit for TV sound from the monitor or are the three cables all that is required ?

Sorry for all these questions, but want to plan it before stripping everything down so I can complete it in one go.

Cheers

Anyone out there ????

Been looking at them on Ebay, and from the pictures I can see, there are no connectors on the wires. Do the bare wires plug straight into the socket ?
