First sub install - advice please
Hi folks
I've finally got round to putting a sub in my wagon - what a difference!
Its a JBL 12" sub/amp package off eBay, which takes up surprisingly little space. The amp is screwed to the back of the box.
I've done the basic install but would like to alter the cabling to make it easier to remove if I need the space - so I need some sort of in-line plugs and sockets for the 30Amp 10AWG live and earth wires. Any suggestions for what to use and where to get them from gratefully received!
I'd also like to fix something in front of the speaker to protect it from knocks - any idea what to use for grilles?
Next I need to decide what sort of sound deadening to use - there's already half a sheet of the stuff off scoobyshop in the doors, but now the tailgate rattles when the low notes hit...

Easiest un-install would be to detach the amp. from the back of the box and mount it elsewhere, then use banana plugs or similar to connect the speaker wires to the box.... Or even large spades if you don't mind using a screwdriver. Less wires to worry about too.
IMO: If you b*gger up the speaker wires, you stand to blow the amp fuse or amp. If you b*ger up the power cabling, you stand to blow the power fuse and or weld bit of cable to bits of car.
Safety first because at some point you'll be in a rush to uninstall it...

if your just using your amp for your sub i'd leave this screwed on to your sub box and just put a connector plug on your power, earth and ignition then when you need to you can take lot out you'l be able to get them from halfords or an audio shop.
if your wanting to leave amp in car and only take sub box out just put connectors on +/- wires to sub.
