How do you remove Double DIN unit.....
.....from 2003 Impreza.
The car has fitted a Pioneer FH-P4100 R headunit ( Double DIN size ) but there is no obvious way to remove it .
I assume you have to remove the facia panel around the stereo and heater controls but am not certain so don't want to go pulling things about and breaking them.
Can anyone please give guidance on how to get it out as I'm desperate to fit my new multi changer into the vehicle.
Cheers.
Mark.

I was only after a pointer in the right direction, we are not all perfect .
Cheers anyway, it's saved a broken fascia !.

You can redeem yourself by letting us know how it goes, and what it looks/sounds like once it's in OK.

Sorry, not your fault - no-one reads the FAQ (took me some time to find it too) so at least 50% of my posts here are pointing people in that direction.
Sometimes I'm nice, sometimes I'm not...
Glad you found the info anyway!

Looked at pulling the stereo out yesterday but realised my interior is not the same as pictured in the FAQ guide.
It's an 03 face lift model and I have the version with a seperate centre console and stereo/heater control fascia, so back to square one (as pictured in Ajax's post ).
As before I think you may have to just pull the fascia off as it feels clipped in but am not certain, can anyone confirm this before I break something.

if it is the one without the naff cup holders in the dash then:
1) remove gearlever surround by pulling it backwards
2) remove 2 screws that are exposed at bottom of console
3) level each side out, there are only push studs holding it in - the top two are the pains and need a slim screwdriver inserting between console and side trim to ease the side of these plugs out.
tip - run heater for a while to soften the trim and dont force it
