Default MY99 head unit compatible with multichanger???

My std phillips head unit in my MY99 classic has developed a crackle while playing cd's and the radio! Had the head unit out and if you tap it you get a crackling noise through the speakers (all of them) disconected the plugs on the back and put them back in again but it is still happening - usually when its been on for a bit and warmed up.
So can anyone tell me what brand head units are compatible with the std 6 disc multichanger, not bothered about the tape deck as I dont use it anyway but it would be nice to keep the multichanger. I presume phillips headunits should work but are there any other brands that will plug into the multichanger.

Cheers,

Ayde

Have you checked the cables from the head unit to the changer for any cracks/cuts??
