Default Ipod Location

Finally I have invested in some kit -

Alpine HU, Infinity's and a Ipod adaptor KCA 420i

Following RU's instructions it all seems pretty straight forward
(Thanks RU, you are indeed a Gentleman)
but I was wondering if anyone has tried the Ipod in a different location

eg the pocket under the stereo or Console box between the seats?

any comment very welcome

Many thanks

Shucks, cheers grey-wrx!

Someone said they'd got their iPod in the under-stereo pocket/flap, can't remember who though.

I thought about the box between the seats, but routing the cable would require too much removal/drilling of 'stuff' which was in the way. As I recall it's not just a case of making a hole in the box itself, but there's a barrier half way along the transmission tunnel which put me off too.

At least with my HU the flap pocket gets quite hot, so I'm glad I didn't locate my iPod there. Having said that, it cools down if the flap is open so it wouldn't be a big problem.

Thanks for the feedback - I have just collected the flap from Phil at Bulldogs - who has been extreemly helpful and a top man -
If Halfords can get there act together I could have the sounds for this weekend - but going on their past performance is this likely?

These aren't the Halfrauds spacers are they? Be careful that they are what you want, as they are described wrongly in their catalogue...

From the other posts the 6510's need an 18mm spacer - any other suggestions of where I can get these are very welcome?

Ive got ipod/alpine set up and my ipod sits in the glove box.

Best place for it i would have thought. As you don`t need to touch when using it but it`s still easy to get to should you want to take it out.

Just a quick update - I went for the flappy pocket location for the ipod location

works a dream and is tucked neatly out of the way -

20 mm hole drilled in the rear RH side of the pocket with a rubber gromit to protect from chaffing - job done
