Exclamation MY04 New ICE Install

Hey guys,

I am a complete newbie about ice installs but have short listed the following components and was wonder if they sound ok and more precisely will they fit!

Pioneer-DEH-P80MP Head Unit
Audiobahn: 6.5" + 4" Component System - ABC6003N
Autoleads: Speaker Adaptor - Subaru Front Door 130mm

It looks like the 6.5's have a mounting depth of around 50-60mm which from reading these posts is borderline, so spaces needed?

Thanks for the helps guys

Dale

No idea about the head unit or sound quality, but the speaker adaptor is useless (130mm is just over 5").

I'd check the FAQ in this section first, then post back if you have any more questions.

all the pioneer head units ive heard have sounded mint for the money a mates just bought a deh p77 mp and sounds really nice bass and treble nicely balanced unlike some manufacturers that seem either over crisp sometimes(alpine even tho ive got one lol)or slightly better on the bass than treble (kenwood)always find pioneer panasonic and clarion are good at both as for audiobahn never tried em and none of me mates have can recommend jl audio, infinity or boston as ive heard all of them if i had to choose would be the JL`s-not cheap tho. Were trying not to go down the ice install route with this car as havent had a boot i could use in me last 3 cars so its sort of a novelty, just got alpine 6x9`s in rear shelf and boston accoustics 5in 2ways in front doors and alpine head unit will b getting a 4 channel amp tho probably wont bother with subs this time.(mines a classic scooby so shelf was easier to modify for 6x9`s)

Hmmm????... how are you going to install this?

The 4" speakers should fit in the back doors but I'm sure they are not designed for that position, and the crossover wiring will need to be run to the back doors. There's nowhere in the front doors to mount a additional 4" speaker.

The 6.5" (165mm) speakers will be too big for the 130mm speaker adaptor but the website says the depth is 1 7/8" (~50mm) so they should fit with a 12mm MDF spacer.

Thanks for all your help guys, yeah I did wonder about the 130mm adapter and assumed it would of been ok as it says it can also be used to mount 6.5" speakers so I have learnt something new!!

Back to the drawing board!

I really would go for infinity 6000cs's, you will only need a 12mm mdf spacer.
They are a perfect fit, did mine in a morning.

Pete,

Let me know how you go on fitting the head unit if you go ahead with it. I had a DEH-P80MP in my classic which I removed as it was only a couple of months old before my sale.

Debating whether to install the same head unit in the 53sti or go the double din route.
