Ice Advice for 02 Bug Eye
Well I've had my Scoobs for 3 weeks now and it's time to start looking at getting rid of the woeful jumbo head unit and upgrading the speakers.
Popped in to Unicar today and they recommended the following:
- Kenwood head unit (I've got a Kenwood multi changer)
- Alpine SPR-17LS Type R speakers for front doors with tweeters and crossover
They thought couldn't do too much with speakers in the back doors due to the limited size to play with. I'm not really after a gigantically loud system at all, I was quite happy with the set up in my previous car (206 Gti) so just want to go back to that and maybe a little more.
Obviously with taking out the huge 80s effort from the dash it will now leave a bit of a gap, they said they've got something to fit in the gap but it would be 20 QUID!!! Seems steep for a few inches of plastic!! Anyone got an idea where I could source this from at a cheaper price?!
They also said £85 for fitting which seemed a little excessive - although to be fair I really would make a mess of it myself. Anyone know of any reliable alternatives in the Leeds area?
