Default Front speakers for a MY05

Hi all,

Was looking for some front speakers, as straight a swap as possible, for a MY05. I initially was considering the Focals until I found out the price! Am looking for some good full range ones in the £100-£130 price bracket. Anyone recommend any?

Thx

You won't find any that are a straight swap, the originals have a 38mm mounting depth which is very shallow. You'll need to add some MDF spacers... loads of threads on here about how to do it, start with the FAQ thread.

I'd recommend Infinty 6500cs, however they appear to be very 'bright'; I'm still playing around with the instal though so the jury's still out.

Are you keeping the standard head unit?

I too have gone for Infinity 6500cs with a Kenwood head unit and changer - shortly to be joined by a small vibe amplified sub - this lot should make crap sounds a thing of the past!!

I fitted infinity 6000cs's with 12mm mdf spacers in mine, very very impressed as well. Easy install.

I had some Rainbow SLX265 Delux speakers fitted in the front with 15mm spacers and Dynamat and SL100 s in the rear of my 05 WRX and the sound was improved but then had to change the standard head unit for a Panasonic CQ9800n to drive them fully as the sound with the limp standard head unit was clipped.
The speakers were £119 front £75 rear with £50 for dynamat and £40 fitting.
Top job by sextons in Southampton.
