Kenwood Mask Fitted To MY05 WRX
Finally finished off fitting my Kenwood KMD-PS970R Head unit into my MY05 WRX,
not the most straight forward of installs due to the dash not being single din width, but I am well pleased with the results
And the massive difference in sound quaility

At the moment no ( Funds don't allow and the ones I have i don't think will fit ) but TBH the standards ones arent too bad on a decent head unit, don't get me wrong room for improvement without a doubt, but can easily live with them for a while. Just goes to show how shyte the original headunit is !!

Agree - if you felt the standard head unit was poor, trust me the weakest link in the whole standard set-up is the cardboard speakers - the head unit is amazing in comparison. Do change them to anything - or just have a look at them and you can see how flimsy and cheap the cardboard is...

Looks cool.
Well if my trip to the Nurburgring at the end of the month doesn't become mega expensive I may be in the market place for some speaker upgrades
Are the infinity 6000cs's a straight forward fit ?? Do they sound good too ??

The only thing you have to mod is the dash panel that surrounds the head unit, I had to cut it the same height of the head unit and make it about 6-8mm wider each side so the cage could pop through and allow you to fit the facia surround to he cage. ( If that makes sense ? )
I made the cut using a dremmel tool thing, it was a bit nervy at first as if it hadn't have fitted I would have just f**ked my dash up !!
The only other alteration was to add a spacer to the screws that hold the bracket to the dash board, I used rubber wiring gromets as it allowed me to alter the angle of the head unit by tightening or loosining the screws thus squashing or releashing the grommit.
Slide the dash surround back over the head unit and clip in place, then fit the black facia to the head unit, on mine it wouldn't just push on as its a tight fit, so I fitted it at the bottom and the gently eased it over the top of the cage with a small screwdriver and there you go job done !!
I will try and get the facia back off and send you a couple of photos of the dash mod if you want ??
