Backup of Pioneer navi DVD help?
I know that navi discs can get scratched and then become useless.
I heard you can make backups of them, is anyone willing to make me one, i will pay for your services, i just am really scared about my current disc getting messed up.
Especially as is has to be taken out of the unit to play a CD.
many thanks in advance.

Right ho - u need dual layer burner, some dual layer DVD+R media, copy of BlindWrite 5 and about 1 1/2 hrs.
Install burner of choice & BlindWrite.
Create an image of the original disc using BlindWrite- this saves a big file (7.8Gb+) and a small 'reference' file - 45mins
Burn said image to blank DVD, again using BlindWrite - 45mins. et voila!
Trust me I tried all sorts to do this, only blindwrite did it successfully.
n.b this was a Subaru Navi DVD - but all map DVD's are broadly similar.

I backed mine up recently as I had exactly the same concerns. I can do it for you but need the dual DVD media as it tends to be quite pricey. Happy to do a backup copy for you though. I used Nero and it seems to be ok though I have only been using it for a couple of days on local journeys.

here is a guide using clone dvd
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/15/59/
I am not sure if the disk will have some sort of protection on it like normal film dvds do
if so then you will need to rip it to your hard drive first.

if the disk is over 4.36gb then you will need to use a dual layer disk
these are £2.98 a disk

No charge for time, just so long as you don't want 400 copies! PM me and I will give you my address. Just send the original and the DVD and I will do it for you. I have an AVIC-X1 unit so guess it is the same as yours.
If you want an alternative I have a Sony DVD writer for sale (dual layer of course) for £90.
Hope it helps.

you may find that works
people used to use it to copy the old playstation games etc as it copies in RAW mode or something
try that it should work
