Hi,

Has anyone fitted a Kenwood mask Head unit into a MY05 Impreza ??

Was told today by Austen_wrx that he thought the head unit surround may be too big to fit into the single din socket.

It isn't the latest generation of mask head units but is about 4 -5 years old, think it was one of the first ones.

I really hope it does fit as it is a top headunit and I love it to bits

You need to remove the hard plastic surround from the hu, and it'll fit. If the hard plastic surround isn't removable, you're knackered.

Yeah its removeable but exposes all the gears etc that drives the face around

I am pretty sure ( When I fitted to my Clio 3 years ago ) that the removable facia is the same size as the cage of the head unit, so fingers crossed it may fit

If not there will be a Kenwood mask head unit up for sale in the next few weeks

It will expose the gears, but the double din "hole" will mean that it's covered

I fitted an early Kenward Mask unit in my UK300. You remove the surround and add something like a sunglasses box to the space where the double din was. You can hardly notice that the surround isn't there. Unfortunately I don't have any photo's anymore, and I've replaced the Kenward with an Alpine head unit now.
