Cool Replacing MY03+ speakers and making spacers ... send me some ..

Hello folks,

I'd like to replace the front speakers in my MY05 as they are incredibly poor BUT I don't have access to any sort of jigsaw and would just use the bay at work to take doors off etc so I have a proposition so to speak.

If any of you guys are replacing the speakers and making collars from MDF i.e. 12 mm spacers would you make a double set .. I'd be willing to pay you for your time and for posting them to me .. how does £25 quid sound?

You'd need to let me know what size/make of speaker you've bought so I can buy the same to guarantee a fit

Drop me a reply or a PM anytime and I hope that this request isn't too cheeky ..

Thanks,
Avalyn.

If you do this successfully, please let me know, as I need to change the speakers in my MY03, but the thought of having to make spacers is holding me back as well.

OK I will do .. RIGPIG has said he will kindly make me some spacers when he gets around to changing the speakers in his MY03. Drop him a PM, I'm sure if he can make more than 1 extra pair and send them to you as well (for some cash obviously).

I can drill out what I need for the fixings so as long as I can get some MDF spacers with the centre hole jigsawed out I can do the rest (as long as I buy speakers of approx the same diameter/depth).

Hi Avalyn,

What speakers are you getting (or got) to replace fronts in your 05..?

Also, I take it your kepping oem head unit..?

Jason

PS If you still haven't got your spacers, Halfords can order a set of Autolead (plastic) spacers for our cars (complete with wiring adapter) for £13, next day..!

I've ordered a set today should get then Tuesday and for me, not wanting to go too mad with the ICE, they should do nicely. Just need to pick some decent, not overly expensive speakers.

Jason

Hi Jasonius,

No decision made yet on front speakers. I wanted the collars so when I'm a bit
less busy at work and the weather is a bit warmer I had them ready
for a speaker change.

I was going to keep the head unit, I'm no audiophile and if I can stop the crappy
speakers vibrating and distorting then I think the standard head unit will
be OK for me.

I'll probably pick up some nice 16-17cm full range speakers as I can't be assed
with the hassle of mounting crossovers/tweeters like I did in my old MY00.
