Default 2005 Kenwood HUs. Or an Alpine. Or something else?

I went out looking at new Headunits earlier and was thoroughly underwelmed with what I could get for £200-250 in the local dealers. One offered me £200 inc. fitting for a Pioneer model that can be easily picked up for under a £100 on the internet.

So I think I'll just buy online and fit myself.

I notice there's some new Kenwood models out for 2005. In particular the KDC-W7531 or KDC-W7031 - http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...er_id+5+page+2.

Has anyone used them or know anything more about them. All the specs I can find don't list if they are Mask or D-Mask, and Kenwood themselves seem to know nothing about it according to their website.

I've also been looking at this Alpine - http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...?product=19675. As spotted for £350 out an about earlier on. Looks quite nice too. Anyone used it?

And finally any recommendations for the £200-250 mark if anyone has them.

Hi,

having used most makes of unit I would definately advise on an alpine. The sound and build quality on alpine units is superb and haven't found anything IMO that comes close.

The unit you linked to is quite nice actually, I was going to suggest that 1, this is also quite a nice unit but an extra few quid on top http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/prod...f3cd61260d6f86

Do you know if the Alpine's feature Auxillary Inputs?

I've just stumbled across this - http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product...ts_id/797.html - looks like a great deal. Green buttons would match the green lights on the dash too.

I've never owned an Alpine before. A pioneer which I liked, but was stolen, then a Kenwood MD player which I loved. I'm open to trying new things though.
