Default iPod Interface to MY05 Headunit

Hiya

I've had a reply (below) regarding the Dension iPod interface (previous post tacked onto this one: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=399538 )

I guess I'll have to try it out myself. Problem is, I only want an iPod if it works with this; if not then there are better mp3 players out there.

I guess that means buying the iPod from them too... Time to spank the plastic!

I'll let you know how it goes...

Ru'

<message from them>

"Hi Rupert

The Kenwood aftermarket variant should work but we haven't tested on
the
05 model year. If you purchase and it's not compatible, we'll refund.

Regards

Lee Harris

Okay, so nobody's interested, but I'll keep on regardless...

Latest email correspondence from them (below) kind of scuppers my plans. Seems they don't want a £300 order!

Does anyone likely to go to the East or West Sussex meet have a 4th generation (?) iPod which they could bring for a trial? I don't know anyone with one.

Cheers,

Ru'

<My message>

"...Thanks for the reply. If I also buy an iPod at the
same time, will this also be refunded if it doesn't
work? I'll only want an iPod (rather than other mp3
players) if it integrates with the headunit. The same
goes for a Brodit Proclip Subaru Impreza 01-04 Angled
Mount..."

<their reply>

"...Sorry, we can't do this on the iPod or the Proclip as they are discrete
devices..."

<my latest email>

"...That kind of makes it tricky to check if it works then
(fair enough not including the proclip).

Oh well, thanks anyway..."

Yeah, that would be the ideal solution but I'm limited in what I can do with the car (to some extent anyway...) as it's company owned.

I'm going to change the front 'speakers (when I've had a look/listen to some alternatives) as they are dire, but I was planning on leaving the headunit alone.

I've gone down the Alpine route myself and would thoroughly recommend it.

Most definitely!

I went for the CDA-9830R and iPod controller. £299 from Bass Junkies.

If you want to use your iPod in the car then i can't see a better solution.

I've gone the alpine route with a 9835 and the 420i, got both for 425 from www.cel-direct.co.uk. The bio display makes picking tracks etc really easy and the sound quality is excellent.
