Can anyone suggest some "good quality" speakers which are a straight replacement for the standard fit (MY00). I'm looking to replace, front doors + tweeters and rear shelf, but don't wish to cut holes in nice new panels.

I've already replaced the Philips with a Sony MD, so speakers are the next stage.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

JBL GT6.0c, Infinity Reference 605CS - both under £90 and go straight in - good reports on both - I have the latter. Don't bother with the rears - I have replaced them with 220W coax and they are faded right down to give correct front imaging. Spend your money on soundproofing for the skins of the front doors. If you want something really good, Infinity Kappa, CD technologies, Focal, MB Quart are some names banded around. You're looking 2,3,400 here though just for a pair of fronts. Depends on what you want to spend, but running only off headunit, I wouldn't bother going beyond the first two I mentioned, and they'll handle a lot of amp as well!

Where are the best deals to be had for the JBL or Infinity speakers as mentioned above? and how much is soundproofing liable to cost?
This sounds like the kind of upgrade for me as I've put in a Sony CD system.
But I'm skint at the moment

Thanks for that. I've looked at both your recommendations, either will do. How is the tweeter attached to the inside of the door? I assume there's some form of mounting point behind the small grill, or do I knock a bracket up to suit.

Any recommendations on how to remove the door trims without causing damage?

Adding sound proofing seems a good idea as the doors seem quite light.

Tweeter - blutak does the job, but the Infinitys come with various mounting sockets, one which allows you to adjust the direction of the tweeter behind the grill. There is quite a lot of room behind there, but I haven't botherered with anything other than blutak as I couldn't be bothered drilling holes, which is fine as they're quite light, small, and obviously don't vibrate like a midrange speaker. No mounting point begind, just an expanse to the door metal, with a covering of waterproof membrane into which I cut a 1" square to allow the blutak to stick to metal. It hasn't moved yet, and you can easily get back into the area if it does by pulling off the door handle surround.
