Can't go far wrong with an RE XXX12 or 15 and a Directed D1200.1 running it or them!!!
This is my old setup with a Rockford RFD2215 15" sub this was run by a Viper D600.1 monoblock amp, sub was run at 1 ohm, trouble is the sub is now dead!! Got to build my box for my new RE SX12 yet, but I'm expecting something special!!

What do you mean by "kicks ****" - do you want a punch that feels like it's taking your head off, or low bass that'll make your nose vibrate (need around 145dB for that trick )
I like the sound that a 12 makes, but occasionally crave truly truly deep bass. My problem is that I've only got around .7 cu ft to lose in the boot (!), so I can't really get the best out of my sub. It's a diamond M6 dual 2 ohm 12", running at 1 ohm (!) on a Soundstream continuum, which'll mean it sees around 400W. I like the sound, but could do with a bit more ultimate low response.
If you want ***** out bass, the RE XXX are excellent, and there's plenty of others. Be aware that these need a fair amount of juice to tickle 'em but will really take the pain...

I think trouser flapping is lower down the scale from the nose. Worst we ever managed was throat vibrations (oo er) when it really was getting deeply unpleasant to be in that shogun. Long wheel base shogun with 2 seats left. Truly daft. But funny
