Amp mounted on sub box. Good idea?????
Hi guys.
Got a question.
Is it possible/advisable to mount an amplifier to the side/end of a normal boxed sub? Wasn't sure if it would cause problems with the amp due to vibration or something?
Haven't even bought a sub or an amp yet but was considering this as an option if I did buy them to save drilling in to the rear of the seats to mount the amp. I guess the other option is to buy a ready-made jobbie with the amp built-in but from past experience they didn't seem quite as loud as a seperate amp and sub. I stand to be corrected on this though as it was some time ago I heard one and they may have improved since then.
In case wattage etc. makes a difference, I would imagine I would buy similar to what I had in my last car which was a Rockford Fosgate amp (400W I think ) and 12inch Rockford Fosgate sub.
Any input or advice welcomed.

you wont suffer any problems in terms of sound by doin this,
just be sure that the sub is SECURE in the boot! the last thing you want is for the sub box to be sliding about in the boot and ripping the amp connections off! if you do this, make sure the sub cannot move in any cirumstances. or have VERY slack wiring goin to the amp.
