they are quite nice sony stuff i've seen a few in the imprezas now and quite like them it looks more grown up none of this boy racer flashing lights kind of thing, thats part of the reason i'm thinking of changing as well i want more quality than more lights than the blackpool illuminations!!!

Just so I have got all the bits, I have ordered the ISO adaptor for the leads.

Question:

Will the WRX MY03 arial plug fit a Sony Player, or do I need a converter or something??????

Ajax, I think everything comes with an aerial adaptor nowadays - there's only two standards, and every aftermarket stereo that I've had has had the adaptor in the box...

I have the same unit fitted to my 02 WRX, paid £265 fitted. Can you tell me where the silver tray underneath is from as mine has a tacky black CD slot and looks naff.

Cool My apologies

My apologies for not coming back to you sooner

The blanking plate if from a Subaru Forester, Pocket Assy CTR Part number 66128SA000

And it costs about £15.00, nice bit of kit for little money.

The Sony head unit was from http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk

It was £202.00 inc Vat, can’t verify the price tonight, because the page with the Sony head units is down, comes back as a 404 error

This was the best price found.

Going to be busy this weekend putting the infinities in the front, got my glue, mdf, wire, saw and ready to go.

By the way the Sony unit comes with a remote very handy for setting up, also I was pleased to see that the head unit dims when you put the headlights on, the amplified Arial works through the iso mount, true plug and play.

The sound quality improvement is very noticeable, even without the speakers being replaced, can’t believe I put up with the old unit so long.

This upgrade is value for money and easy to do, thanks to Chiark and GaryCats walk through.

Been doing the preparation for the infinity 6000cs fit, sent by boy round the DIY for some MDF for the spacer wanted 12” X 24” X 12mm thick.

He came back with a sheet 48” square, ie half a sheet, that’s the minimum size they sell, only cost 7 Squid, so not really a problem.

I cut off a piece 12” X 24” marked it out into 12” sections and cut the holes out, marked out the screw fixings to hold the speaker.

So ready for the speaker install on Saterday.

Cool

Just been out for a run in the mota, The CD player and speakers are really nice it just that they are running into a bit of competition with my Magnex exhaust.

Most of the bass is being drowned out by the exhaust note.

Any ideas please?

Don’t say get a standard exhaust………………..

I need a Plan

If the noise is coming up thought the boot space, do I line the boot floor with sound proofing and line the base of the boot cover.

At the movement I have an extra carpet lining the boot floor.

I can but a sub in the boot, and run it off the Sony head unit.

I don’t want to amp it all up, Just want to listen to my Abba CD recordings LOL.

Bottom line
How can I kill a bit of the noise on the cheep, and restore the base

Default Alternative to cover the hole

Going back to using a Forester blanking plate, I couldn't see that in the accessories list but did come across this on the subaru site.

http://www.subaru.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Su...8?Opendocument

Does anyone know whether this would fit a MY05 Impreza STI. The cost is a bit different to the £15 unfortunately.

Regards

Gary
