Unhappy DVD player overide???

Have jsut got hold of a Kenwood KVT-920 in car dvd/tv for me motor. Does anyone know how I can fool it into thinking that the car is parked even though I'm driving as it wont allow you to play DVD's or have the TV on whilst driving along

If that makes sense and you can help it'll be much welcomed

At a guess, it only works when your handbrake is on

The rest is up to you - what you are proposing doing is illegal tho.

I wouldn't advocate grounding permanently the wire which is connected to the handbrake.

give the wire 12volts, the head unit will think that the handbrake is on. wen u pull ur handbrake up the light comes which inturn is 12volts

Don't put 12volts up wire. most system use the ground from the handbrake not live. simply connect the wire that says "handbrake" to a good ground. and it's not illegal to have a tft showing while driving. but it is illegal to view a movie/dvd/tv while you are driving. that also applies if a passanger is watching it and you can see it even if its by reflection in a window.

edmy716 - that could blow the input circuit up - it's expecting to be grounded, not 12v!

Damage is unlikely, but it definitely won't work.

I have the same unit, its quite easy to do what you mention . . the green wire for the handbrake should be connected to the earth. . but that would be illegal and its not how I have it wired

Cheers for the help, i was thinking of running it from a two way on/off switch from a 12v source so i could turn it off if the old law was about, but after that i think i'll try the earthing route instead

I have a similar Kenwood unit in mine, just ground the wire that you are ment to link to the hand break and it will work fine!
