Dynamat - My Scooby
Hi,
Iv been thinking about Dynamating my scooby for some time now...has anyone here already done this?
Was there an improved difference?
I have been advised to use Dynamat Extreme, however tis seems very expensive, unless iv been looking at the rong place to purchase...
Any Advise...

Sam,
Yup, it makes a massive difference to the scoob, especially doing the doors. The floorpan helps too, and finally the roof makes a little bit of difference.
Extreme is undoubtedly great, but like you I find it offensively expensive.
I've used NoiseKiller barrier mat from Steve the Sound Man (check scoobyshop, he used to sell stuff in there) and I recommend that as being both effective and cheap.
Cheers,
Nick.

Sorry to butt in but, i'd like to do mine also but i'm concered that it might create a trap for water and hence rust, or does it have some anti-rust stuff init?
Wouldn't at thick coat of Waxoyl do the same?
I'd feel better then!

get a two door, it feels nice and heavy anyway!
I refused to do the doors on mine on the basis that the car is for driving not for listening to the stereo.
Before I developed this view point, I would concur that it makes a useful difference.
Don't be fooled into putting complete sheets in the door, it simply isn't necessary.
Strips acorss the panel in different directions is just as effective and the stuff will go further.
And don't apply it in cold weather, with or without a heat gun/hairdryer.

Adam speaks wisely - you don't need a shedload of the stuff! However, I can't believe you got your hands dirty installing it, but it is definitely worth heating it quite a bit before you apply it (don't heat the paintwork for obvious reasons!) even in hot weather, and do make sure that you clean the panel that you're sticking it to fully with something nastily solvent

I've a load of sound deadening material in the shed that is surplus to requirements. I've done the doors, boot & under the rear seat with it & the difference is amazing. I've about 50sq ft of it left at about £1.00 a sq ft plus p&p. You won't find it cheaper anywhere. Drop me a pm.
£65 the lot inc p&p if anyone wants it?

Nick,
don't tell anyone but where car stereo is concerned so long as I had a soldering iron, I used to do all my own work.
Not happy to touch the engine stuff as if it goes wrong it can result in death or at least severe financial problems.
Worsth thing on the stereo side is that it looks messy and doesn't sound great.
So far, have never had any issues with my own installations.
