Is it just the speakers that are rubbish in the MY03 STi TypeUK??

Basically, I can't really afford to change the headunit and speakers at once and was wondering whether just changing the speakers will make alot of difference or is the head-unit really bad anyway and good speakers won't make any difference?

By-the-way, a question that has probably been answered a thousand times but I couldn't find the answer, are there any door speakers that will replace the originals without any cutting or making of additional parts from MDF etc. and if so, what make of speakers are recommended or what dims do I require the speakers to be for a quick and easy replacement job for a technical numptie!

Both the head unit and speakers are crap. Sell the original head unit on ebay and you should get between £100- £150 for it which goes some way to cover the cost of replacements.

I doubt there are any quality makes of speaker that would fit without a spacer. The originals have a mounting depth of 38mm which is unusually shallow.

some kenwood dual mags should drop in without any adaptors. but their is a lot better out there for the money, you just need to make spacers for em all...
