Default Multi Changer MY03

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but can anyone tell me a suitable multichanger that's compatible with the original head unit found in a MY03 WRX. Would it be possible to fit an MP3 compatible multichanger to this head unit or am I looking at a complete change if I want the MP3 option . I was thinking of fitting it myself so any feedback on what is involved would be greatfully appreciated.

It is a Kenwood and will connect to any current Kenwood CD multichanger via the 13pin plug socket at the back of the unit.

If you get a second hand one be careful as the older ones might not work unless you have a O-N switch inside the changer (switch to N).

Don't think there are any MP3 solutions which you can connect up to the standard unit, but I'm no expert on this!

Thanks for the reply's guys.
Just been down to my local ICE supplier and he reckons its not a Kenwood and I wont be able to get a changer to fit unless I go to Subaru. Is he talking out of his Ar$e. Sounds like he may be. It has got me thinking though. Should I go for a new head unit with the MP3 option and forget the autochanger instead. Any reasonably priced recomendations, and also what extras will I need to go the single Din route.
Help much appreciated

To be honest Paul, it's not worth adding a cd changer to the existing headunit. The quality is so poor that you're throwing good money after bad. I'd invest in a new quality headunit, a converter pocket (to fill the gap left by the double DIN unit) and also replace the front door speakers, dynamatting at the same time.

This will bring instant improvements to the sound in your car.

Cheers for that Steve. The more I think about it the more I think that might be the best bet. What head unit and speakers do you recommend.

Well, it's all down to taste. I have a Pioneer DEH -M77MP headunit, some Phoenix Gold components up front and some Genesis 6x9 subs under the rear shelf.

The front speakers aren't the best but the rest is great.
