When you've got it all apart, be prepared to pop down to Halfords for a wiring loom ISO adaptor if you've got a Jap model - UK ones should be standard ISO anyway.
If you're going from a double DIN to a single DIN, this is what you end up with (once you clip the plastic surround back in place, it won't look like the stereo is falling out of the front!) :
Tools for the job on an MY96 Jap double-to-single conversion: A medium Phillips screwdriver.
