Default Re-fitting a stereo in my stripped-out RA

My 95 RA is a stripped-out track car with a double-din sized carbon fibre blanking plate where the stereo would be. What do I need in order to refit a stereo? It gets a bit boring when driving long distances and I'm sure a kg of head unit won't affect the lap times too much!

Oh, and if anyone wants to sell me a cheap head unit (pref with CD player) I'd be much obliged!

You should find that there's a DIN cage behind that (hopefully). Have a play, and you hopefully will find that there's two plates behind the carbon fibre which you can use to mount a head unit into.

You will want a single din pocket or blanking plate, or some DIN gauges, or ...

Check what's behind that plate first. If you can't tell, post a piccy

Cheers,
nick.

Thanks Nick. There's nothing behind the plate at all currently, it's just a big gaping hole

Oh bugger. There'll be 4 or 6 screw holes facing you that are the supports for the DIN cage. You need that cage.

I'll probably have to order the part from my local dealer I guess then. Do you still have to pretend you have a UK-spec car these days or are they more sensible now?

Thanks for your help

Ha, this is where you'll have fun.

The <MY00 double dash was never imported officially, so I doubt that dealers will know what to order.

I'd try scrappies. Failing that, drop a PM to Alberick who has played around a lot with double dins in classics...
